Her Wei @ Yulek

Today 31st Jan 2010, is Her Wei's opening day. Saw their big banner outside their shop, RM5.50 value set, so I went to check out and only to find out that the value sets are for Mon - Sat. Kg Cheras Baru's Ayam Rempah

As you go drive along Jalan Kuari toward Taman Muda's roundabout, at the traffic light where on the left you can see a pinkish building called Glenview Villa, take a left turn just before the said traffic light.

After turning left, go straight instead of turning right to Glenview Villa. You will go down hill and about 200-400 metres, you shall arrive at this stall on your right. Be there early, by 12.30pm to get steaming hot ayam rempah that sell like hot cakes!

Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah

On my little attempt to find out the history of Cheras, a place where half of my life I have spent and many more lives have been around here and gone, here is what I have found, courtesy of Nationmaster.com

Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
Cheras is best described as a suburb in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. With its lush greenery and friendly locals, it has been voted one of the best suburbs to live in. The suburb covers a large geographic area on the south eastern side of Kuala Lumpur, including its famous recreational garden, "Taman Tasik Permaisuri" with its large lakes and family oriented facilities. Cheras is also adjacent to Ampang to the north and leads to Kajang to the south. Cheras is generally considered a safer area than the Petaling Jaya district, and has seen an influx of migrants from such places as Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, and Subang due to its safer and more conducive environment to bring up a happy child. "The Sun always shines on Cheras" , which the locals smiles are testament to. One cannot possibly feel unsafe, unwanted or unhappy the moment they are in Cheras.

Sports Facilities
Cheras played host to the 1995 SEA games, therefore housing many international standard sports facilities and stadiums, including the famous Tun Razak Football stadium where Hari Raj, Jackson Chan and Helmi Hamzah from the Selangor Football Club scored the most amazing goals in Cheras history. Though controversy followed the amazing feat, it has not dampered the spirits of the heroes if mentioned to them.
